It was too early to be awake.  One thing I've noticed about living in a tent is that we go to bed shortly after dark, and wake up shortly after dawn.  Very old school of us.

This time I woke up because Aaron was shaking my foot to let me know it was most urgently VIP time.  So I hauled him out over the threshold without tearing the tent or the me or Aaron.  That is a win.

When we got back, Joey was up and wandered off to do his morning rituals, probably sacrificing mosquitoes to an Evil One or something.  His first sunburn was pretty healed.

Mine is not.  I'm going for a strategy of layering sunburns, artistically.

I went down to the general store for a half hour of coffee and respite while the kids stayed behind to do their own thing.

These walks back and forth are getting easier, and I am definitely getting new muscle.  Try my new program!  Walk .15 of a mile an average of 6 times a day, at least twice pushing a 170 lb man in a wheelchair while eating 2 meals a day!  You'll see the changes in your body after just one week!

I waited at the general store for an order of groceries and some duct tape because I had an Idea.  No, not that one.

I have been buying groceries in small amounts every few days because we are in a small area.  With the beds set up, deflated or not, Aaron in his chair takes up half the remaining floor space.

I have been window shopping accessible tents and none are cheap.  Some people seem to suggest using a pop up canopy with sides, but that will not work well with cats or in Mosquitosota.

The Anishinaabemowin word for mosquito is zagime. Zah-gih-may, if I am remembering right.  Zagimeg, plural BECAUSE THEY ARE ALWAYS PLURAL.

Anyway.  The duct tape.

I finished my coffee, collected my groceries and headed home.  I didn't bring my little wagon this time because I thought I'd just carry it all, and friends, I regret.

It took two trips.  Half a mile now - .15 x 4.

I got everything settled, fed kids rice, nuts, and non-perishable milk.

Then I enacted my plan.  I sat out in what the tent makers optimistically called "the sun porch" and I duct taped the flappy floor parts to a tarp.  I staked the tarp down as an extended tent floor.  I brought in two logs and used that to pin down the doorway floor flap, then I opened the inner tent door.

Kitty porch!

It was a cool, very windy day, so we mostly stayed in.  Duchess considered joining the other cats on the porch.

But she still hates them.

Spaghetti tried to fight the wind.
She probably won.

As you can see, Orgalorg is still unhappy with the wind.

We had crackers with pb&j for dinner.  I went out and refilled all the water bottles, then we put the cats back indoors and zipped up for the night.

It was pretty noisy.  Lots of families coming in for the weekend.  One family with three little boys kept having a little scream time in the bathrooms.

Spaghetti wanted to fight them.

We watched Nimona and caught up on Delicious in Dungeon while the cats lounged.
Spaghetti fights Duchess' hate.

The campground quieted down by ten thirty, and we reinflated bedding and went to bed.

Tomorrow cots from Amy and Kirk arrive!

Bonus sleepy kitties:
